We removed the old steel window, framed the opening with 2 x 4s, installed the windows, and insulated.
Now we are installing solid Vinyl trim to finish the project.

How to Finish Trim Our Vinyl Window
Hello, everyone. I'm Dennis from Home Rehab Pros. I hope everything is going well for you and your family today. Today, we are going to trim some vinyl windows that we installed a while ago. In fact, we have a series of videos documenting this project. We removed a steel frame window, reframed the opening using two by fours, installed vinyl windows into the new openings, and added insulation. If you haven't seen these videos, we would appreciate it if you could take a look to catch up on this project.
Our focus today is on trimming these windows, and we'll be using PVC material. PVC doesn't rot, can be painted, and provides a nice finish. If you have a similar project, we encourage you to tackle it. You can gather the courage to do it yourself, and as you watch, it's almost like we're working on it together. So, let's dive into it and see how Jason trims out these vinyl windows.
Our windows are installed and insulated with fiberglass. We're ready to begin putting up the trim. For this installation, we designed it so that the trim can be fastened directly to the framing, flush with the window itself, eliminating the need for extension jams. We're going to use simple square cuts for framing, which doesn't require extensive skills.
Now, let's measure the top length. We're aiming for a consistent one-inch reveal all around the window. To achieve this, we'll rip a one-by-six piece down to three and five-eighths inches wide. Safety is crucial when using the table saw, and we take the necessary precautions.
With the measurements in hand, we start cutting the trim. The PVC material cuts smoothly, making the process manageable. We take care to ensure the smooth side of the trim faces outward for a clean finish.
Next, we discuss the placement of the trim, considering the reveal and positioning. We cut and attach the trim pieces securely, allowing them to be flush with the window framing.
As we move forward, we take precise measurements, ensuring accuracy in our work. We cut and fit the pieces, making sure the factory side faces out for a polished appearance.
Finally, we admire the finished trim, highlighting the difference these windows have made in the living room. The project is nearly complete; all that remains is caulking and final touches.
To wrap things up, I want to extend my gratitude for your continued viewership. We value your feedback and aim to provide content that matters to you.
